5 Things You Can Do for Your Celebrant Business Plan That Take Less Than 5 Minutes
If you were a lucky duck like me and had the opportunity to attend the TCS conference in Bali, you would have witnessed Sarah and Anna’s fantastic session on goal-setting. In it, they emphasised the importance of visualising what you want to achieve in the future, then breaking down those lofty goals into smaller, manageable steps. From monthly objectives to weekly targets, all the way down to what can be achieved today.
Even if you weren’t on the island to soak up sun and knowledge, goal setting is a concept that we can all recognise the importance of when running a sustainable celebrancy business.
But let’s be honest—sometimes, even getting started on a daily task can feel daunting. We all have those days when even the simplest to-do list seem overwhelming. On those days, it’s crucial to have quick wins that can get you moving in the right direction, switch on your brain and get that dopamine flowing.
So to set you on your way to being a high-fiving, goal-achieving legend, here are five tasks you can complete in less than five minutes to give yourself a quick victory and boost your motivation:
1. Learn Something New for Your Celebrant Business
Taking just a few minutes to read a blog post can give you a quick knowledge boost. Whether it’s learning about the latest trends in wedding ceremonies or picking up a new tips for managing your business, these articles can teach you something new, give you a fresh perspective on an old topic, or make you feel less alone in the challenges you face. 2. Promote Your Celebrant Business Values
“Show, don’t tell” is a technique in storytelling where character and plot is conveyed through action rather than exposition. It’s also a pretty good philosophy when it comes to demonstrating to potential couples and other vendors what is important to you in your business. Have a think about what values you hold that want people to know about, and how best you can not just tell, but show them.
For example, if you believe in the importance of an Acknowledgement of Country, add one in the footer of your website and your website signature (you can find some examples at reconciliation.org.au) or update the location on your Instagram posts to include Country. If you think asking (not assuming) people’s pronouns is beneficial, offer up your own first by including them in your social media bios. These small actions take just moments but speak volumes about your commitment to your business values.
3. Do a Quick Inclusivity Audit of your Celebrancy Business
Even if you have been a big supporter of marriage equality for years, it’s super easy to fall into the heteronormative language that we’ve been raised on for years without even realising it – “ladies and gentlemen” anyone? But language matters. And the more we practise inclusive terms, the better we get and making them part of our everyday vocabulary.
The good news is, you can do a super quick inclusivity audit on your own website in around five minutes with these steps:
- Open your homepage and use Ctrl+F (on a PC) or Command+F (on a Mac) to open a find search box.
- One at a time, type in gender specific terms such as “bride”, “groom” and “bridal party”
- Each time the term comes up, consider whether it would be better replaced with more inclusive terms such as “couple” and “wedding party”, then update where needed.
- Repeat process for every page on your website, as well as any forms or questionnaires you have your couples fill in.
There will be times where it makes sense to keep the more gendered terms, but making this simple and quick edit wherever it makes sense can make your website more welcoming to all couples.
4. Strengthen Industry Networks in Celebrancy
While most of the time being a celebrant is a solo gig, when it comes to the wedding day, we have to work seamlessly as a team. That’s why building strong relationships within the wedding industry is such a vital part of being successful in this business.
Spend five minutes strengthening that professional bond by leaving a Google review for one of your favourite wedding vendors— it could be a venue, photographer, florist, or any other wedding pro you admire. It could even be another celebrant who has helped you out in the past.
A positive review not only brings all the warm and fuzzies, but it might even bring you to top of mind when that vendor’s couple ask if they have any recommendations. And then you might get to work with your dream team again!

5. Brainstorm Social Media Ideas
Grab a pen, a piece of paper and an egg timer (or your phone), then brainstorm as many social media and blog ideas as you can before the timer goes off.
Think of every question a couple has ever asked you, or any trend you’ve been enjoying lately and jot them down without self-editing. Just brain dump all over that page!
Not every idea will be a winner, but at the end of that five minutes, you should have some solid inspiration for a few Instagram posts, TikToks, or blog articles that you can share with your audience.
